/ FAQs · For OEM procurement teams

The questions you ask before you send us a print.

Procurement teams have ten questions in mind before placing the first RFQ. Here are the answers — straight, no marketing language. If your question isn't here, email info@kgindustrialgroup.com and we'll answer it the same day.

Can you sign an NDA before I send prints?

Yes. We execute NDAs within 24 hours. Send yours, or we'll provide ours.

What's your minimum order quantity?

No minimum. One piece to one million.

What materials do you machine?

Aluminum, steel, stainless, titanium, Inconel, brass, copper, plastics, exotics. If it's machinable, we run it.

What tolerances can you hold?

Standard ±0.001". Tighter tolerances quoted per print.

Are you ISO certified?

ISO 9001:2015 certified. ITAR registered.

What's your typical lead time?

Quote in 24 hours. Standard lead time 4–6 weeks depending on complexity, material, and volume. Rush orders available — as fast as 1 week.

Do you provide first article inspection reports?

Yes. FAI, PPAP, CoC, balloon inspection — whatever your quality requirements call for.

What are your payment terms?

Net 30 for approved accounts. Credit application takes 24 hours.

Can you handle both prototype and production volumes?

Yes. We're set up for one-offs through high-volume production runs on the same equipment.

Where are you located?

Global HQ in Chicago, IL — home to platform, K+G Ai ERP, and operations leadership. Shop floors across Illinois and Wisconsin, with capacity expanding. 100% domestic manufacturing. See the full network →

Can you drop-ship parts directly to my end customer?

Yes. Drop-ship to your customer's dock is standard practice. Your packing slip, your branding on the box, your customer's PO reference — we ship as you. Common for OEMs supplying to defense primes, medical device customers, and aerospace tier-2 programs.

How do we exchange CAD files securely for ITAR or controlled work?

For ITAR or other export-controlled programs we use a secure SFTP exchange or your existing supplier portal (Box, ShareFile, customer-managed SharePoint). All controlled data segregated at the network and physical level, drawing access logged. K+G is ITAR-registered with the US State Department / DDTC.

What does AS9102 First Article Inspection add to the cost?

AS9102 FAI is generated automatically by the K+G Ai ERP from the balloned drawing, so the labor cost is minimal — typically $150–$400 per part depending on dimension count. Compare to industry-typical $800–$2,500 per part where FAI is built manually. We quote FAI cost as a separate line item so you can see exactly what you're paying for. More on inspection →

What rush-order options do you offer, and what does it cost?

Rush orders are available — standard 4–6 week lead time can compress to 1 week for parts that fit available machine capacity. Rush premium typically runs 20–40% above standard quote depending on overtime and material expediting. We tell you the rush cost up front so you can decide if the calendar is worth it.

What information do you need on the print to quote accurately?

Ideal package: PDF drawing with title block, GD&T callouts, surface finish, and tolerances + STEP file + quantity + target ship date + any cert requirements (AS9102 FAI, CoC, mill cert, ITAR). Description and quantity is enough to start the conversation if you don't have CAD yet. Send what you have →

Do you ship internationally?

Yes for non-ITAR work — we routinely ship to Canada, Mexico, and Europe. ITAR-controlled parts require US destination or licensed export approval; we'll guide the paperwork if your program needs it. Standard incoterms FCA Chicago / Racine / Elgin.
